It was Fall 2020, and Kait was an occupational therapist working for a home health company where she met Mat’s 92 year old grandfather (her client). Mat’s grandparents quickly became like a second set of grandparents to her.
“When I’d go visit, Mutti (Mat’s grandmom) would always leave an apple or piece of German chocolate for me on the table (they moved to the US in their 20s). Towards the end of my sessions with his grandfather, he began asking if I was seeing anyone because he wanted to set me up with his grandson Mat, who he felt would be perfect for me! But Mutti quickly interjected that Mat’s girlfriend wouldn’t be too happy about that.”
Luckily Mat’s grandfather never gave up the quest to set his grandson up! Sadly, his grandfather passed away the following March but Kait remained close with Mutti and would visit her. In May that year, Kait received a text from Mat, saying he’s heard a lot about her and how much I had helped his grandfather. A few messages later, he was asking her out to dinner. And the rest is history!
Kait & Matt planned a special Christmas-time trip to New York City to see the Rockefeller Tree and Wicked on Broadway! When they were at the tree, they asked a friendly stranger to take a photo of them which is when Mat got down on one knee to pop the question. Kait describes being so cold that she felt the tears freeze on her cheeks, but that she couldn’t have been any happier.
Kaitlyn & Mat chose April for their gorgeous wedding at The Community House of Moorestown – a season that they clearly love, as they chose it for their garden engagement session almost exactly 1 year before their wedding! It was the perfect time for cherry blossoms and the weather couldn’t have been better.
The couple got ready at The Community House with their family and wedding party, and chose to forego a first look, instead waiting to see each other in their emotional ceremony on The Community House grounds. One highlight of the night was that guests were treated to charcuterie boards as favors, handmade by Mat’s dad. After enjoying the grounds, the couple and their guests had a fantastic meal from Summit Catering and then danced the night away under the lights of the Community House ballroom.
