To say that I was excited for Kristin & Tyler’s Historic Mansion Wedding in Philadelphia is an understatement. Their much anticipated wedding day took place at Knowlton Mansion – a historic gem in the City of Brotherly Love. And while I was super excited to photograph their story amidst this beautiful wedding venue, I was equally if not more excited to document the culmination of their emotional journey together as they said I do amongst their closest family and friends.
Kristin & Tyler knew each other since childhood, but they kept their feelings for eachother hidden, held back by the “off-limits” factor. Kristin was Tyler’s best friend’s little sister, and as Kristin shares, “Our feelings for each other only grew stronger over the years, and it got to a point where we couldn’t hide it anymore, nor did we want to!”
Tyler & Kristin both share a deep love for hockey and their beloved team, The Flyers! So it’s befitting that Tyler planned the perfect proposal – at a Flyers watch party, surrounded by family and close friends. And the icing on the cake? Well of course it was that The Flyers won that night too!
When I asked what Kristin’s favorite thing is about Tyler, she replied without hesitation “Tyler is truly my best friend”. And Tyler’s response about Kristin? “Every way that I look at Kristin, she’s breathtakingly beautiful.”
The couple share their life with their furry best friend Beau – their German Shepard -who enjoyed his moment at the spotlight during their wedding ceremony as he escorted Tyler down the aisle, and offered comfort as Tyler got slightly emotional seeing his bride for the first time!
After their heartfelt “I Dos” in the estate gardens, the couple explored the beautiful grounds and historic rooms of Knowlton Mansion with their family and wedding party for portraits. Knowlton Mansion features several stunning spots for wedding day photographs including a historic covered front porch, grand staircase and wine cellar.
After portraits, the couple joined their guests in the Knowlton Mansion Ballroom. Kristin & Tyler’s grand entrance was a hilarious nod to Tyler’s service as a Police Officer. Kristin wore Tyler’s uniform and escorted him into the ballroom handcuffed. And here’s the best part – these were REAL police handcuffs, which took some coordination from Tyler’s mom to unlock!!
The couple honored loved ones who are no longer with us with a beautiful and unique memorial table. It was a very heartfelt tribute, which I found extremely moving.
Kristin & Tyler’s wedding was a beautiful and heartfelt celebration of their love, and I’m so fortunate to have had the opportunity to document it! If you’re planning a historic mansion wedding in Philadelphia, or anywhere in the city, I would love to document your story! Let’s connect!
