Collingswood Grand Ballroom Wedding | A Stunning Day Celebrating Kim & Alex
Kim & Alex had a beautiful and unseasonably warm March day for their Collingswood Grand Ballroom Wedding. They held a family-focused celebration in this beautiful 1920s venue reminiscent of Art Deco style. After Kim and Alex’s meeting 6 years ago, thanks to a mutual friend’s introduction, they have both endured many a challenge. But it was through those challenges, along with many celebrations that their love grew.
Alex planned out his Christmas Day proposal to the last detail, from the ring to the custom ornament to celebrate. However Kim was struck by COVID, delaying Alex’s plans.
Another opportunity presented itself after Kim recovered quickly for a New Year’s party. Alex knelt and presented the ring as the new year struck, but when Kim turned around she didn’t recognize the proposal at first. As she returned to kiss Alex several minutes later, Kim realized exactly what was happening.
Kim wasn’t prepared and actually fled the scene in shock! But of course she returned quickly to say yes, overwhelmed with joy.
The magical day began at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel of Cherry Hill, where Kim and her wedding party got ready overlooking the Philadelphia skyline. Then, the group travelled to the Ballroom where the soon to be married couple touched up before their emotional first look.
Kim & Alex chose The Collingswood Grand Ballroom for its warm cherry wood details, the beautiful white-marble appointed bridal suite and the grand historic staircase. All of these details contribute to the venue’s elegant and opulent 1920s decor, which also hosts a fully functional theater.
Kim & Alex’s family, including their beautiful daughters Maria and Grace were at the heart of their wedding celebration. We took advantage of the warm March afternoon and the ballroom’s expansive covered porch for their wedding party and family portraits. And the venue’s richly paneled halls provided Kim and Alex the opportunity for beautiful couple’s portraits.
After portraits it was finally time for Kim & Alex to say “I do”. Their ring bearers and flower girls stole the show, after which Alex watched his beautiful bride led down the grand staircase by her brother with tears in his eyes. The long-awaited ceremony was officiated by their cousin Aries, who incorporated personal and heartfelt stories into the couple’s vows.
During wedding planning, Kim shared with me that it was important for their guests to have fun at their celebration. And their wedding reception did not disappoint! The couple hired a wonderful caricature artist to create personal keepsakes for guests during cocktails and the reception.
After their guests enjoyed cocktails, Kim and Alex shared their first dance while guests watched from the ballroom’s balcony. Then Kim shared a memorable dance with her daughter Maria, and Alex shared a fun and upbeat dance with his mom Colleen.
Kim & Alex’s family surprised the newly-weds when the flower girls and ring bearers entered the ballroom in a miniature police car as a tribute to Alex! After which the newly-weds danced and partied the night away surrounded by their friends an family.
