Nine years before Emma & Jon’s Moorestown NJ Wedding, their story began as co-workers at a video game store. “We actually didn’t get along at first!” Emma recalls. “He thought I was annoying, and I thought he was lazy!” But as often happens, the couple soon saw through first impressions and found that they had a lot in common – including, of course, their love of gaming!
They became good friends, but it wasn’t until 2019 that Jon asked Emma out on their first date after a previous relationship ended. And as they say… the rest is history.
Emma and Jon live in Pittsburg PA, and have best friends and family living all the way from Boston to New York City so it was important to choose a central location. Although planning a wedding long distance is never easy, the couple were excited to celebrate their special day while making it as easy as possible for their closest friends and family to attend.
The Community House of Moorestown, conveniently located in South New Jersey and with its rich historical architecture and storybook feel, definitely fit the bill.
After getting ready with their family and friends, the nerves were setting in and it was finally time for Emma & Jon’s first look. The couple chose to read personally written vows to each other privately during their first look, which made it an emotional and special way to start their wedding day together.
Emma & Jon were so excited about portraits in the historic rooms of Moorestown Community House – especially The Library, as both of them are avid readers. One unique part of Emma & Jon’s day was that they planned a 12:00 pm ceremony, so that guests who had to travel didn’t have to leave late for a long drive home. Because of that, they planned two shorter portrait sessions during their timeline – one during the morning and another towards the end of their reception to take advantage of the late afternoon light. You’ll see those portraits towards the end of this post.
The Moorestown Community House Library is such a unique and stunning backdrop for your wedding ceremony, and I was so excited to document Emma & Jon’s vows in this beautiful space amongst their closest family and friends.
After their heartfelt ceremony, the couple joined their guests in The Garden Room to catch up over cocktails. Then it was finally time to head into the Community House Ballroom for their reception.
The Community House of Moorestown Ballroom is a stunning space, with a 20-ft wood beamed ceiling, rich cherry paneled walls and a gorgeous stone fireplace. Emma & Jon kicked off their reception in this beautiful space with special dances with their parents, before taking the floor for their own first dance.
They also took a moment to honor and document every guest who attended their wedding with a group photograph on the dance floor. This is one of my favorite traditions! After an amazing meal from the talented team at Summit Catering, the couple danced the afternoon away with their friends and family. It was a beautiful, emotional and fun day that I’ll always remember!
